*Our readers are generally
wealthier than the average Canadian resident. Many have sold UK high price homes to emigrate here,
others have come on the entrepreneurial scheme - having established a high income, and
ability to create business wealth
in Canada.

All immigrants from the UK have
to show ability to support
themselves financially. There are also a number of retirees who
are now collecting a private or Governemnt pension from
the UK in pounds sterling.

Who produces The British Canadian?

Paul and Michelle Meade

Paul and Michelle emigrated from the UK 7 years ago, and both
have extensive experience in newspapers, radio and television. Paul
has worked as a journalist for the past 30 years - starting as a freelance
reporter in Manchester. After a few years working in radio, Paul moved
on to television, working for the BBC in Manchester - and Meridian TV
in Portsmouth. He then set up the UK's first local terrestrial tv station
on the Isle of Wight. Paul has also worked as a television reporter for
several NBC and CBS affiliate news stations in the US.

Michelle started her career as a News Editor and Presenter in Radio,
then moved on to be a local television News anchor in Utah
- before teaching journalism and broadcasting at College level in the UK.

Since moving to Canada 7 years ago, Paul and Michelle have
done many things, including real estate development, and have produced
a tourism related newspaper, Island Explorer
- which distributed on Vancouver Island.

They launched The British Columbian Newspaper almost 3 years ago.
After early success they decided to launch a second newspaper for
the British community in Ontario, then a short time later, one for the
Brits in Alberta. The Ontario paper is by far the biggest of the three
with new pickup points being added every month. The newspapers
now claim to have approximately 70,000 British readers every month.
