IMPORTANT NOTICE
We are aware of the launch of a rival British newspaper
across Canada. The USA Union Jack is launching a franchise
in Canada - promising big distribution numbers and a
paper filled with national news - but not much local. This
paper is a direct threat to The British Canadian Newspaper.

We have built up our locally based British newspaper over
five years - and are an integral part of the British community
here. But a US backed paper with deep pockets is in a
position to see us go under - while offering lucrative
temporary deals to take away our support.

We urge British businesses and readers to withstand the
lure of the US newcomer to the Canadian market. We
support local British business, shops, organisations with
local news and local advertising. At this worrying time
for us, we ask for your support.

They have told us they do not wish to focus on local
British news - they are going after national advertising
like their US flagship paper. But if we are to continue
to bring local news and local advertising we need to
survive their attack. If you value what the British Canadian
has done over the past 5 years - and want it to continue
- please back our campaign.

Please don't carry the Union Jack and please don't
advertise with them. We need your support. The British
Canadian delivers real numbers - over 70,000 local
British readers. Please support our efforts.
